国际海运整箱进出口需要哪些单证

What are the main documents for international sea freight? As one of the most important modes of transportation in international trade, sea freight involves complex logistics processes and legal regulations, and shipping documents are key to ensuring the smooth progress of this process.

Importance of Documents

Shipping documents are important documents in international trade. They are not only proof of ownership of the goods but also the legal basis for the rights and obligations between the carrier and the shipper. Accurate and timely document processing is crucial to ensure smooth customs clearance of goods, avoid delays, and reduce trade risks.

Main Types of Documents

  1. Bill of Lading (B/L): It is the most basic and important shipping document, serving as a receipt for goods, evidence of the contract of carriage, and a document of title. Depending on the type, bills of lading can be divided into on-board bills of lading, received-for-shipment bills of lading, clean bills of lading, or claused bills of lading.
  2. Shipping Instruction: Specific instructions provided by the shipper to the freight forwarder or carrier regarding the shipment of goods, including the port of destination, consignee information, cargo details, etc.
  3. Packing List: Lists in detail the contents, quantity, and packaging method of each container or package, aiding customs inspection and the consignee in checking the goods.
  4. Commercial Invoice: Itemizes the information of buyer and seller, product description, price, quantity, etc., and serves as the basis for calculating customs duties.
  5. Certificate of Origin: Proves the country of production of the goods, used to enjoy tariff preferences or meet specific requirements of the importing country.

Document Flow Process

  1. Before loading: The shipper prepares the shipping instruction, commercial invoice, packing list, etc., and submits them to the freight forwarder or directly to the carrier for booking. After accepting the booking, the carrier issues a shipping order to the shipper for arranging the loading of the goods.
  2. During loading: After the goods are loaded, the carrier issues the bill of lading, whose information must be consistent with the actual loading condition. Simultaneously, the carrier issues a Mate's Receipt to confirm receipt of the goods.
  3. After loading: The bill of lading and other relevant documents are transmitted through the banking system or directly to the consignee to facilitate customs clearance and cargo pickup at the destination port.
